Powercat Gameday adds three new hosts to pregame show

Powercat Gameday returns for its 29th season of K-State football coverage in 2024. This season, the biggest pregame show in the Big 12 will be presented by a four host panel that includes three new hosts.

For the first time in nearly a decade, Powercat Gameday will be hosted by a former player. Zach Nemechek, K-State fullback/tight end from 2010-2014, joins the show this season. Nemechek played in 50 career games for head coach Bill Snyder. Won a Big 12 Championship in 2012 and what a part of a senior class that finished with a 38-14 record. Nemechek is now a dentist and owns Dental Associates of Manhattan.

“I became a big fan of the show when I moved back to Manhattan two years ago,” Nemechek said. “Living in Manhattan and listening to the show has taken me from a football fan to a K-State Athletics fan. Having the opportunity to contribute to an already phenomenal show is an honor and a blessing.”

Returning to Powercat Gameday as a fulltime host is Mason Voth from K-State Online. He filled in to host two shows back in 2019. Voth enters his 7th season covering K-State Athletics. During that time, he has been a sports radio host and play-by-play voice in Manhattan and Wichita. One of those stop being New Radio KMAN. Voth is now the Multimedia Director/Associate Editor for K-State Online. Hosting ‘The KSO Show’ On YouTube.

“KMAN is where I started in media and will always hold a special place in my heart,” Voth said. “The few times I originally got to be part of Powercat Gameday were some of the best in my professional career. I am excited to join this year’s crew and carry the tradition of the biggest pregame show in the Big 12.”

Also added to the Powercat Gameday panel is The Manhattan Mercury Sports Editor Tim Everson. He has been with The Mercury in a full-time capacity since 2021, and was named Sports Editor in 2022. He’s also served as Sports Editor at The Iola Register and Dodge City Globe as well as Sports Editor and Editor-in-Chief for the Kansas State Collegian. He attended Kansas State and is a graduate of Butler Community College and Riley County High School.

“I’m very excited to join the Powercat Gameday team,” Everson said. “Growing up in the Manhattan area, the show has always been part of my gameday routine, and now getting a chance to contribute to that tradition is very special.”

KMAN Sports Director and K-State public address announcer Mitch Fortner will return to host for his 3rd season.

“I’m pumped to carry on this K-State tradition with Zach, Mason and Tim,” Fortner said. “All three will provide their own unique expert analysis on K-State football. The best part is that we all bleed purple.”
