How K-State, Collin Klein are navigating college football’s new 5-for-5 eligibility model

Kansas State had already started adjusting to college football’s new age-based eligibility model, but recent court rulings have added another layer of uncertainty to a roster that was already built.

The NCAA’s new “5-for-5” model gives Division I and II student-athletes five consecutive years to play five seasons, with eligibility beginning at full-time enrollment or after turning 19. This includes junior college transfers; once they cross into DI/DII, they will have 3 years and 3 seasons of eligibility remaining.
