MANHATTAN, Kansas (Kansas State Athletics) – K-State (2-3-1) continues a three-match home stand at Buser Family Park on Friday night. The Wildcats host Yale (2-0-1) on at 7 p.m. This will be K-State’s first match against an opponent from the Ivy League.
• Friday’s match will be available on Big 12 Now on ESPN+, as Brian Smoller (play-by-play), Oscar Montenegro (analyst) and Jazsmin Halliburton (sideline) will have the call.
• In a postmatch ceremony, Kansas State will recognize its 2022 senior class. The 12 players that will be honored are: Rebecca Bartosh, Shannon Dukes, Aliyah El-Naggar, Kyler Goins, Rachel Harris (r), Jesse Loren, Bailey Nemechek, Caylee Thornhill, Shae Turner, Kursten von Klahr, Marisa Weichel and Roo Yarnell-Williams. The 2022 senior class has registered 22 goals and 11 assists during their time in the Little Apple.

Last Time Out
• K-State closed out its three-match road trip last week and started a three-match home stand on Sunday.
• The Wildcats secured a 1-0 win at Weber State on Thursday, September 1, to cap its road trip with a 2-1-0 record.
• Senior Marisa Weichel tallied her first goal of the season, finishing a rebound off a shot from her sister, Maddie Weichel, in the 44th minute.
• Weichel’s goal was the 100th in the seven-year history of the program.
• Junior goalkeeper Alaina Werremeyer collected her second shutout of the season and the seventh of her career.
• K-State returned to its home turf on Sunday to host Purdue. The match was marred by five yellow cards in the first half. The Boilermakers played a player down in the second half, but the Wildcats were unable to overcome two early Purdue goals and fell 2-1.
• In its last seven home matches, dating back to the 2021 season, K-State is winless with a record of 0-4-3 during this stretch. K-State’s last home win came on September 19, 2021, against UTRGV.
• Senior Kyler Goins tallied her third goal of the season, notching a 25-yard strike in the 87th minute. Goins has scored in three of K-State’s last four matches.
• Goins scored the seventh latest goal in program history (86:15) and the fifth-latest regulation goal in school history.
• K-State has scored a goal in the first six matches of a season for the first time in program history. The Wildcats have tied the school record for consecutive matches with a goal with six straight games. The previous record was established during the final three matches of the 2017 season and the first three matches of 2018.
Cats Reach Century Mark For Goals
• K-State reached the 100-goals scored milestone as a program in its seventh season of action.
• The Wildcats reached the mark at Weber State in a 1-0 win on September 1, 2022.
• K-State set the single-season record for goals with 20 in the 2021 season.
• In its brief history, the Wildcats have seen 31 players register at least one career goal.
Game-Winning Goals for All
• Through 108 matches in program history, Kansas State has registered 28 victories. In those 28 wins, K-State has had 17 different players register a game-winning goal.
• This season, senior Kyler Goins became the latest Wildcat to register a game-winning goal, notching her first at UTRGV on Aug. 25.
• Adding to her career ledger this season, senior Marisa Weichel tallied the game-winner at Weber State on September 4. Weichel is tied for the K-State career record with Brookelynn Entz, as the pair each have four career game-winning goals. In the 2021 season, Marisa Weichel set a program record three game-winning goals.
• Of the 28 game-winning goals, eight have been scored by freshmen and eight of the goals were the first of their collegiate careers. The latest freshman to score a game-winning goal was Adah Anderson, who scored in the 90th minute against North Alabama on August 29.
• The first game-winning goal in program history was awarded to Abby Sieperda in the Wildcats’ 6-0 win at Oakland on August 26, 2016.
Better Late than Never for K-State
• In its seven seasons of action, K-State has scored 62 of its 101 total goals in the second half or later of matches.
• After scoring in the 6th minute of the season-opener, K-State has scored four of its last five goals in the second half.
• Senior Kyler Goins recorded the seventh-latest goal in program history and the fifth-latest regulation goal in the K-State soccer history with an 86:15 tally against Purdue on September 4, 2022.
• The Wildcats have scored 10 goals in the 85th minute or later in the history of the program. Of those 10 goals, three were game-winning goals (Brookelynn Entz, Colorado State, Sept. 17, 2017; Adah Anderson, vs. North Alabama, Aug. 29, 2021 and Caylee Thornhill, at Kansas, Sept. 30, 2021) and two were game-tying goals (Aliyah El-Naggar, at Missouri, March 28, 2021; Laramie Hall, at Creighton, Sept. 2, 2016).
• During the 2021 season, K-State scored nine of its 20 goals in the second half or later including a 99th minute (98:21) game-winner by Thornhill at Kansas on Sept. 30, which was just the second overtime game-winning goal in school history and the first in Big 12 action.
Goins With Goals
• Senior Kyler Goins has paced the Wildcat attack during the last four matches.
• During a two-game swing through Texas, Goins scored both of K-State’s goals. Against UTRGV, she tallied her first goal of the season and the first game-winning goal of her career with a 51st minute strike that bounced off the crossbar and straight down into the net.
• At UTSA, Goins scored her second of the season and moved into the team lead for goals scored this season.
• This is the second time in her career in which she has scored a goal in consecutive games, also doing so at Kansas on Sept. 30, 2021 and against West Virginia on Oct. 7, 2021.
• Goins added her third goal of the season and first home goal of 2022 with a marker against Purdue on September 4.
• In her K-State career, Goins ranks tied for second in school history for career goals (8) and is third in program history for career goals per game (0.19). She also ranks fourth in school history for career points (17).
• In the 2021 season, Goins achieved career season-highs for goals (4), points (8), shots (35) and shots on goal (13) in her second season with K-State in 2021.
• Goins recorded four goals and eight points in 18 matches played in the 2021 season. She ranked second on the team for goals, shots (35) and shots on goal (13).
• The product of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, led the Wildcats in goals (3) and points (6) in Big 12-only matches. She scored three of K-State’s six goals in league action. Goins is the second player in program history to register five or more points in Big 12 play.
• Goins scored the game-tying goal against ninth-ranked West Virginia on October 7 with a rocket shot from 20 yards into the upper right corner in the 18th minute. This was just the third game-tying goal in program history and the first in the six-year history of Buser Family Park.

The One Who Scores
• Joining the Wildcats in the 2021 season, Marisa Weichel was dynamic in the attack and added to her career total in 2022.
• At Weber State on September 1, Weichel collected a rebound and blasted her shot into the open goal in the 44th minute for her first goal of the season.
• In her K-State career, Weichel is tied for the school career record for game-winning goals with four. She ranks sixth for career points with 15 and ranks tied for fourth for career goals scored with seven. She holds the record for goals per game (0.29).
• Weichel, a transfer from Texas Tech, led the Wildcats in goals scored (6), game-winning goals (3) and total points (13). She was tied for second on the team in shots on goal with 13.
• She ranked 102nd in the nation for game-winning goals.
• With her goal total, the product of Papillion, Nebraska, secured the school record for goals in a junior season. She was the second player in program history to score five or more goals in a season and ranks second for goals in a season.
• With her three game-winning goals last season, Weichel holds the single-season school record for game-winners.
• At Colorado State on Sept. 5, Weichel registered her first career multi-goal match as she scored two goals. She became the third player in program history to score two or more goals in a match and is tied for second in school history for career multi-goal matches.
• Weichel scored at least one goal in four of the first five weeks of the 2021 season. She is the first Wildcat to achieve this feat.
• Weichel’s 13 points last season moved her into second in program history for points in a single season. She was the third player in school history to notch 10 or more points in a season.
