Plattner Lands on Mannelly Award Watch List

MANHATTAN, Kansas (Kansas State Athletics) – Kansas State senior long snapper Randen Plattner was one of just 25 players in the nation to be named to the Patrick Mannelly Long Snapper Award watch list, the award’s committee announced Monday.

Plattner is the first ever Wildcat to be named a candidate for the award, which began honoring the nation’s top long snapper in 2019.

A native of Parkville, Missouri, Plattner has seen action in 35 career games as the team’s primary long snapper on both field goals/PATs and punts. He has been true on all 217 snaps throughout his career, including 103 a year ago. Plattner has also excelled in the classroom as he is a three-time First Team Academic All-Big 12 honoree.

With the inclusion of Plattner on the Mannelly Award watch list, K-State is now up to 11 watch list designations this preseason. Others to earn nods are running back Deuce Vaughn (Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Award, Doak Walker Award), defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah (Nagurski Trophy, Bednarik Award), offensive lineman Cooper Beebe (Outland Trophy), cornerback Julius Brents (Jim Thorpe Award), punter Ty Zentner (Ray Guy Award), and quarterback Will Howard (AFCA Good Works Team, Wuerffel Trophy).

The 2022 K-State football season opens on Sept. 3, with a 6 p.m. contest against South Dakota. The Wildcats then host Missouri on Sept. 10 and close out non-conference action against Tulane on Sept. 17.

K-State Athletics officials announced last week that the only remaining single-game tickets for the matchup against Missouri are scattered single seats or standing room only ticket. However, fans can still get reserved seats together for all seven home games – including the Missouri game – by purchasing a full season ticket package or a flex season pass. Fans can purchase tickets online at www.kstatesports.com/tickets or by phone at 1-800-221-CATS.
