K-State women fight past Houston for come-from-behind road win

The Kansas State women had to fight (at times literally) their way back from a double-digit deficit in the first half, but the Wildcats found a way to walk out of Houston with their first Big 12 road win of the season on Wednesday, topping the Cougars 71-62.

K-State trailed by as much as 14 in the second quarter, but after a major effort in the third quarter evened things up, the Wildcats were able to claw their way to the win, led by a 30-point outing by senior guard Tess Heal.

“I just thought we played tougher, a lot tougher, and a lot more physical and with lot more desire,” head coach Jeff Mittie said of the team’s second-half effort.
