K-State survives scare in 14-6 win at Oklahoma State

STILLWATER, Okla. — There wasn’t much scoring in Oklahoma on Saturday, but it didn’t matter. The Wildcats came away with a 14-6 win, their first over the Cowboys in Stillwater since 2017.

The Wildcats (5-5, 4-3) were outgained by almost 100 yards, but came away with thanks in part to five Oklahoma State (1-9, 0-7) turnovers, four of which came on consecutive drives.

The win gets the Wildcats one step closer to bowl eligibility. K-State now needs to win just one of its last two games to earn a bowl bid for the fifth-straight season.

How it happened

To say Saturday’s game started slowly is an understatement.

In the first quarter, K-State gained just 10 total yards, and Oklahoma State was the only team to score. The Cowboys cashed in on a 47-yard field goal midway through the first quarter, and hit another from the same distance at the beginning of the second to take a 6-0 lead.

The Wildcats, meanwhile, were lost offensively through the first quarter and a half of play. They opened with four straight punts before getting set up at midfield after an interception by sophomore cornerback Zashon Rich off a deflection by sophomore defensive end Ryan Davis.
