K-State’s Prabhu wins triple jump crown, Wildcat men finish 8th at NCAAs

Kansas State sophomore Selva Prabhu was crowned the men’s triple jump champion on Friday during the final day of men’s competition at the NCAA Championship at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, as the men’s team finished in eighth place with 30 points.
The 30 points is the most scored at the outdoor championship in school history, while eighth is the highest team placing. The last time the Wildcat men placed in the top 10 was 1998, when the K-State men landed in 10th place with 25 points.
“Really proud of the efforts,” head coach Travis Geopfert said in a statement. “I think it’s a really good thing when you finish top 10 in the country, and you walk out of there wanting more. Our athletes are competitors, our coaches are competitors, our support staff, K-State Nation. I think your program has arrived to a point from a team perspective that you get that top 10 finish, you’re like, I want more, so I appreciate that about this program, and everybody that’s involved in it.”
